KP Astrology Career Prediction: The 10th Cusp Method
Career and profession are among the clearest applications of Krishnamurti Paddhati. KP astrology career prediction separates employment (a job) from self-employment (business), decides whether each is promised, and times the events that follow: getting a job, promotion, transfer, change. The sub lord of the 10th cusp is the decisive factor, and the verdict it gives is two-valued: PROMISED or NOT PROMISED.
Houses for Job and Service: 2, 6, 10 and 11
In KP Astrology, a career in employment is read from four houses:
- 6th House - Service, employment, working under someone. This is the defining house of a salaried job.
- 10th House - Profession, career status, public standing, authority at work.
- 2nd House - Income and financial stability drawn from the profession.
- 11th House - Gain and fulfilment; the job actually comes through.
These groupings are not inferred chart by chart. They come from a house-grouping table compiled from classical KP writing, which reads getting a job from the 10th cusp with houses 2, 6, 10 and 11, and service in general from the 6th cusp with houses 2, 6 and 10. Where the writing gives a rule in more than one form like this, a KP reading judges every form and states whether they agree.
Houses for Business: 2, 7, 10 and 11
Classical KP writing reads an independent business from the 10th cusp with houses 2, 7 and 10 (some writers add the 11th). What separates it from service is the 7th house (independent ventures, partnerships, dealings with the public) standing where the 6th stands for a job: a 10th cusp sub lord signifying the 7th inclines the native toward business rather than service. The 7th house governs trade, contracts and independent professional dealings.
When both the 6th and the 7th are signified, the chart carries both possibilities: a job first and a business later, or a business built on service work. The reading names both rather than choosing for you.
Step 1: Read the 10th Cusp Sub Lord at Three Levels
Take the planet that is sub lord of the 10th cusp. It is read at three levels: the planet itself, its star lord, and its sub lord. At each level, collect the house that level's planet occupies and the houses it owns. Nothing else is counted, and there is no fourth level.
- If any of houses 2, 6, 10 or 11 appears in that list, employment is promised
- If any of houses 2, 7 or 10 appears, the 7th marking the independent side, business is promised
- A career abroad is a separate matter with its own cusp and houses: KP writers give a job in a foreign land from the 12th cusp with 3, 6, 9 and 12, and in another form from the 2nd cusp with 2, 6, 9, 11 and 12; a reading judges it from the 10th cusp with 3, 6, 9, 10 and 12
One required house is enough for a promise. Classical KP writing states no separate adverse set for a career in general, so the verdict turns on the required houses alone. For the specific matters that do carry adverse houses (the 8th against a government job, for example), an adverse house never subtracts: a sub lord that signifies a required house and an adverse house together still gives PROMISED, annotated with difficulty. The matter is NOT PROMISED only when the sub lord is connected to adverse houses exclusively.
Step 2: Nature of Profession
The planets that signify the 10th house, together with the sign on the 10th cusp, describe the nature of the profession. Mercury on the 10th points to communication, accounting, writing or trade; Mars to engineering, surgery, police or the military; Venus to the arts, luxury goods, hospitality or entertainment; Saturn to labour, land, mining and long service; Jupiter to teaching, law, finance and counsel. This is description, not verdict: the promise comes from the cusp, the field from the planets.
Step 3: Timing of Career Events
List the significators of houses 2, 6, 10 and 11 in the classical grades (A: planets in the star of an occupant; B: occupants; C: planets in the star of the house lord; D: the house lord). The grades are an order of preference, not marks to be added up. They tell you which dasha lords deserve examination.
A promised career event is delivered by a Vimshottari period whose Maha, Antar and Pratyantar lords jointly signify all the houses that time it, each lord supplying at least one different house, and the Maha lord signifying at least one of them. Promise takes any one house; delivery takes all of them. Every period inside the horizon that passes this test is listed in time order, unranked; KP singles out no period and gives no percentage.
The houses that time each event come from the same compiled table. Getting a job: 2, 6, 10 and 11. Promotion: 2, 6, 10 and 11 read from the 10th cusp. Transfer: 3, 9, 10 and 11 from the 10th cusp, or 3, 10 and 12 from the 3rd cusp, a rule KP writers give in more than one form. Loss of job: 1, 5, 9 and 12, stated directly by the writing as the houses of leaving service.
Step 4: Candidate Days From Transit Agreement
Inside a delivering period, transit narrows the moment. The Sun points to the month within a period of months; the Moon to the days within a period of days. A day qualifies when that body's sign lord, star lord and sub lord are all among the period lords. Several days per period are listed, unranked. Transit corroborates the period; it never decides whether the event happens.
Government Job Prediction
A government post is read from the 10th cusp sub lord signifying any of houses 2, 6, 10 or 11, with the 8th house named by classical KP writing as adverse to it. The Sun, as the planet of authority, is a supporting karaka: its presence among the significators adds colour, but a karaka is never necessary and never sufficient. House signification decides.
Birth Time and Ruling Planets
The 10th cusp sub lord can change within a few minutes of birth time, so every KP reading states how far the recorded time could move before the sub lord changes. Ruling planets, which need a moment and a place of judgment, belong to horary work and birth-time correction; for a birth-chart career reading they are shown for the record and decide nothing.
