KP career prediction turns on one test: does the 10th cusp sub lord signify any one of houses 2, 6, 10 or 11? The 2-6-10-11 Houses — KP's Career Rule

For a career event — a new job, a promotion, business gain, a rise in income — classical KP writing reads the 10th cusp sub lord against houses 2, 6, 10 and 11:

• 2nd house — earned income, salary, family resources as business capital
• 6th house — service, employment, day-to-day work, the status of an employee
• 10th house — profession, status, public recognition, the superior
• 11th house — gains, fulfilled ambition, professional networks

The promise test is generous by design: the sub lord signifying any one of the four is enough to promise the matter. It is NOT PROMISED only when the sub lord connects exclusively to houses that work against it. One house does not make a "weaker" promise than four — KP verdicts are two-valued, PROMISED or NOT PROMISED.

The nature of the work is a separate rule read from its own cusp: service (employment) from the 6th cusp sub lord signifying 6 and 10; independent business from the 10th cusp sub lord signifying 7 and 10, with 2 for its income. Each is judged on its own — a chart can promise both, and the reading shows both verdicts.

How KP Career Prediction Works — Each Event Its Own Rule

Classical KP does not judge "career" as one thing. Each event has its own cusp and its own house set, and the reading judges every rule separately:

• Promotion — the 10th cusp sub lord signifying any of 2, 6, 10 or 11; delivered by a period whose lords jointly cover all four.
• Getting a job — the same 10th-cusp rule, 2-6-10-11.
• Job loss — read from the 10th cusp against houses 1, 5, 9 and 12, judged as its own matter, not as the negative of promotion.
• Independent business — the 10th cusp sub lord signifying 2, 7 and 10; success in business against 2, 7, 10 and 11.
• Progress in service — read from the 11th cusp against 2, 6, 10 and 11; a job abroad is its own rule, read from the 10th cusp.

Where classical KP gives the same rule in more than one form, the verdict is the primary form's, and the reading tells you how many of the forms are promised. Adverse houses, where the writing states them, annotate the verdict ("promised, with difficulty"); they never subtract from it.

10th Cusp Sub Lord — The Career Decider, Read at Three Levels

The 10th cusp sub lord decides. It is read at three levels — the planet itself, its star lord, its sub lord — and at each level the houses that planet occupies and owns are collected. Nothing else counts: the star lord of the cusp plays no part in the verdict, and there is no fourth step.

What the collected houses say about the shape of the career:

• 6 with 10 — employment, service under someone.
• 7 with 10 — partnership or independent business, client-facing work.

Houses 9 and 12 among the collected houses point away from the place of birth, and the 5th toward creative or speculative work — house meanings the prose may mention, not verdict rules. The verdict rules are the ones stated above, and each is judged on its own.

Retrogression of the sub lord does not enter a birth-chart verdict — classical KP scopes that device to horary. Ruling planets at the moment and place you ask from are shown as corroboration and decide nothing: the verdict belongs to the birth chart's cuspal sub lord.

Because a cusp's sub lord can change with a few minutes of clock time, the Ask a Question reading states the birth-time sensitivity of the 10th cusp: how many minutes the recorded time could move before its sub lord changes.

Career Dasha Timing — Worked Example

A native runs Saturn Mahadasha with Mercury Antardasha (2025–2027). Saturn is the 10th cusp sub lord and signifies 6 and 10; Mercury, through its star lord, signifies 2 and 11. Jointly the two lords cover 2, 6, 10 and 11, each supplying a different house — the period qualifies to deliver. Inside it, each Pratyantardasha whose lord also signifies one of the four is listed as a delivering stretch, in date order.

Timing is stricter than promise on purpose: the promise needs any one house, delivery needs the lords to cover all of them. A chart can promise a promotion and still show no qualifying period inside a three-year horizon — the reading says so rather than naming a date anyway.

Candidate days inside a qualifying period come from transit agreement: the Sun for a period of months, the Moon for one of days — a day qualifies when that body's sign, star and sub lords are all among the period lords. Several days per period, unranked; the transit corroborates, it never decides.
