What a Career Deep Dive Actually Contains
The KP Annual Reading judges every cusp for the year. Each gets a short verdict. Career is one of those areas — useful for an overview, not for a specific decision.
The Career Deep Dive devotes the entire report to the career rules classical KP writing states — profession, service, business, a change of job, leaving a job, a job abroad, retirement — and judges every one of them on your birth chart. It has five parts:
- The cusp sub lord verdict for each rule — PROMISED or NOT PROMISED, from the 10th cusp for profession and business and the 6th for service, with the houses each rule requires named on the page.
- The 2-6-10-11 career houses — which of them the sub lord signifies, at each of its three levels.
- The delivering periods over three years — every Vimshottari Maha-Antar-Pratyantar period whose lords jointly cover the timing houses, listed in time order.
- Sun agreement — the stretches inside those periods where the Sun's transit corroborates the period lords.
- Birth-time sensitivity — how many minutes your recorded birth time could move before the 10th or 6th cusp sub lord changes.
The 10th Cuspal Sub Lord — Your Career Promise
In KP, the 10th cuspal sub lord is the single most important factor for career. Not the 10th lord, not the planet in the 10th — the sub lord of the 10th cusp. The star lord of the cusp plays no part in the verdict.
The sub lord is read at three levels: the planet itself, its star lord, and its sub lord. At each level the houses that planet occupies and owns are collected. Three steps, not four — there is no sub-sub lord step in KP.
The classical rule is precise: if the 10th cuspal sub lord signifies any one of houses 2, 6, 10 or 11, profession or business is promised. Any one house is enough — the promise holds even when the same sub lord also signifies houses that work against the matter. It is NOT PROMISED only when the sub lord is connected to adverse houses exclusively.
For most career rules classical KP names no adverse set at all, and the report then derives none. Where the writing does name one — 5, 8 and 12 against a job in a desired place, for instance — those houses annotate the verdict rather than cancel it: "promised, with difficulty" means changes come with friction, not that there is no career. A sub lord connected to 5-8-12 alone, with none of 2-6-10-11, is the only case that is not promised.
This verdict frames the rest of the report, because in KP nothing downstream can give what the cusp does not promise. If the promise holds, the question becomes when. If it does not, no dasha period delivers it — the report says so plainly rather than looking for an override.
The 2-6-10-11 Career Houses Explained
Different astrology systems use different career formulas. KP's is specific: career matters are promised and delivered through houses 2, 6, 10 and 11.
- House 2 — earned income, accumulation from work.
- House 6 — service, employment, the daily job, victory over competition.
- House 10 — the profession itself, status, recognition.
- House 11 — gains, fulfilment of ambition, the raise and the bonus.
Some career rules are stated on other houses. Leaving a job runs on 1, 5 and 9 from the 10th cusp; a job abroad brings in 3, 9 and 12; a job interview is read from the 3rd cusp through 3, 6, 10 and 11. Each is a separate rule with its own cusp, and the Deep Dive judges each one on your chart. Where classical KP gives a rule in more than one form, every form is judged and the report says whether they agree.
Significators — Who Can Deliver the Promise
A planet signifies a house in KP through occupation and ownership, read through its star lord. Classical KP ranks a house's significators in a stated order — a planet in the star of an occupant first, then the occupant, then a planet in the star of the owner, then the owner — It is an order, not a score: nobody assigns those ranks a number and adds them up. The Deep Dive names a period lord by the houses it supplies, not by a grade.
The Delivering Periods — Three Years of Vimshottari
The Annual Reading covers 12 months. The Career Deep Dive covers 36. That matters because career trajectories unfold across the Maha and Antar cycle, which often spans several years.
A period delivers a promised career matter only when its Maha, Antar and Pratyantar lords jointly signify all the timing houses — each lord contributing at least one house the others do not, and the Maha lord signifying at least one of them. Promise takes any one house; delivery takes all of them. The two quantifiers are deliberate.
The periods inside the next three years that meet that bar are listed in time order, with the houses each lord supplies and the count stated. The list is not ranked. Classical KP states no priority among the periods that qualify, so the report does not invent one — there is no "strongest window" and no percentage.
Where Pratyantar is not fine enough, Sookshma is available as an optional fourth level for the same test. Inside a delivering period the Sun's transit is read for agreement — a stretch qualifies when the Sun's sign, star and sub lords all fall among the period lords — and those stretches are noted as corroboration. Transit confirms; it never decides.

A typical entry in the Career Deep Dive timing section looks like this:

Each listed period gets an entry like this, in time order. Where the chart promises a rule but no period in three years meets the bar, the report says "promised, no delivering period inside the horizon" — a promise to hold until its time, not a denial.
When to Order a KP Astrology Career Deep Dive
Order it when:
- You have a specific decision in front of you — a job offer, a promotion candidacy, a pivot into a new industry, a startup decision.
- You have had multiple stalled attempts and want to know whether the chart does not promise the matter or whether no delivering period has arrived yet.
- You want to know which of the next three years' periods can deliver a change, and which cannot.
- You want the answer to more than one career question at once — change, promotion, business, abroad — from one reading.
Do not order it when:
- You want a general "what is my career going to be" reading — that is the Annual Reading, not a single-area report.

What the Report Will Not Do
It will not name an industry or tell you to become a lawyer; it reads houses, not job titles. It will not give a score or a probability, because the classical verdict is two-valued. It will not prescribe a remedy, because nothing in classical KP licenses one. And it will not let ruling planets decide a natal matter: ruling planets need a moment and a place of judgment, so a website reading shows them for the record and they decide nothing.
