KP Ruling Planets Right Now
2026-07-22 · 12:22 (IST · New Delhi reference)
Today's Ruling Planet set
Mars · Venus · Rahu · Mercury
Deduplicated, with Rahu/Ketu agency substitution applied — the set a KP astrologer would write down for this moment.
The five components at this moment
| Component | Value | Lord |
|---|---|---|
| Ascendant (Lagna) Star Lord | Libra rising | Mars |
| Ascendant Sign Lord | Libra | Venus |
| Moon Star Lord | Moon in Swati | Rahu |
| Moon Sign Lord | Moon in Libra | Venus |
| Day Lord | Wednesday (sunrise-to-sunrise) | Mercury |
The Ascendant changes sign roughly every two hours, so this table shifts through the day — the Moon components change over hours-to-days, the Day Lord at sunrise.
This set is computed for New Delhi (IST). The Ascendant lords depend on your location and the exact minute you ask — which is why a real KP horary answer is cast for your moment, your place, your question.
Ask your question — ₹99What are Ruling Planets in KP astrology?
Ruling Planets (RPs) are Prof. K.S. Krishnamurti's signature shortcut: the small set of planets that "rule" a given moment, taken from the Ascendant's star and sign lords, the Moon's star and sign lords, and the Day Lord. Krishnamurti's observation — tested across thousands of horary charts — was that the planets ruling the moment a sincere question is asked also point to its answer.
KP uses Ruling Planets for exactly three jobs:
- Horary (Prashna): when RPs agree with the cuspal Sub Lord verdict, the answer is confirmed; RPs also pick the event's timing window from the dasha ladder.
- Muhurta (electional): to finalise an auspicious moment, the moment's RPs should harmonise with the person's chart significators.
- Birth-time rectification: the RPs at the moment of asking about a birth correlate with the true Ascendant of that birth.
What RPs are not for: ongoing natal prediction. Your life events are timed by your own chart's cuspal Sub Lords and Vimshottari dasha — not by the RPs of a random day. Any site giving you "daily predictions" from generic planetary positions without your birth time is not doing KP.
How the five components rank
KP weighs the components in this order: Ascendant Star Lord (strongest — the most fast-moving, moment-specific factor), then the Moon Star Lord, Moon Sign Lord, Ascendant Sign Lord, and finally the Day Lord (the broadest). When a node — Rahu or Ketu — occupies the sign of one of these lords, the node steps in as that planet's agent, which is why nodes often appear in the final set above.
How to use today's Ruling Planets
If you practise KP: note the set above, cast your horary chart for the moment your question genuinely forms, and check the agreement between your RPs and the relevant cuspal Sub Lord. For timing, hunt the dasha-bhukti-antara ladder for periods ruled by the strongest RPs.
If you just want an answer: our engine does the full method — cuspal Sub Lord analysis, 4-step significators, dasha timing, and RP confirmation — on a question you ask in plain language. One question, one dated answer, ₹99. Or read the method first in our KP horary guide and the muhurta report for picking dates.
Common questions
Do Ruling Planets change during the day?
Yes — the Ascendant components shift roughly every two hours as the rising sign and its nakshatra change, the Moon's components shift over hours to days, and the Day Lord changes at sunrise. That is why this page recalculates continuously.
Are these my personal Ruling Planets?
No. RPs belong to a moment and place, not a person. This page shows the set for New Delhi right now. Your own horary answer uses the RPs of the moment you ask, at your location.
Can I predict my day from these planets?
Not in KP. Daily guidance in KP comes from your own chart — cuspal Sub Lords and your running dasha — not from the day's generic sky. RPs answer specific questions asked at specific moments.
Why do Rahu or Ketu appear in the set?
KP's agency rule: a node in a sign represents that sign's lord (and planets conjoining or aspecting it). When Rahu or Ketu sits in a sign ruled by one of the five component lords, the node substitutes in — usually with stronger effect.
Have a question on your mind right now?
The moment you decide to ask is itself part of the KP method. One question, one dated answer.
