KP Marriage Prediction — When, Who & How

Marriage is the single most-asked question in KP astrology, and KP marriage prediction answers it in a fixed order. First the 7th cusp sub lord says whether marriage is promised in this birth at all; then the Vimshottari dasha names the Maha–Antar–Pratyantar periods whose lords can deliver it; then the 5th cusp says whether the match is a love marriage or one arranged by the family. How KP Marriage Prediction Works — Promise, Then Timing

KP marriage prediction follows a fixed sequence, and each step has its own test:

1. Promise test. The 7th cusp sub lord is read at three levels — the planet itself, its star lord and its sub lord — and at each level the houses that planet occupies and owns are collected. If any one of houses 2, 7 or 11 appears, marriage is PROMISED. It is NOT PROMISED only when the sub lord is connected exclusively to the adverse houses. There is no third value.
2. Adverse houses. Classical KP writing names 1, 6, 10 and 12 as the houses that work against marriage. They never subtract from a promise: a sub lord that signifies 7 alongside 6 and 12 still promises marriage — the reading marks it "promised, with difficulty".
3. Delivery. A promised marriage arrives in a Vimshottari period whose Maha, Antar and Pratyantar lords jointly cover all of houses 2, 7 and 11 — each lord supplying a different house, the Maha lord at least one. Every period inside the horizon that meets this bar is listed in time order; none is ranked above another.
4. Candidate days. Inside a delivering period, the days on which the Sun (for a period of months) or the Moon (for a period of days) transits with its sign, star and sub lords all among the period lords. Several days per period, unranked — the transit corroborates, it never decides.

Notice the asymmetry: the promise takes any one house, delivery takes all of them. A chart can promise marriage and still have no delivering period inside a three-year horizon — the reading says so instead of inventing a date. And if step 1 returns NOT PROMISED, no remedy, gemstone or ritual changes it; the reading prescribes none.

Houses Involved in KP Marriage Analysis

• 2nd house — family expansion, joining a new family by marriage.
• 7th house — the spouse, the partnership, the marriage itself.
• 11th house — fulfilment of desire, gains through relationships, friendship that becomes marriage.
• 5th house — romance; whether a promised marriage is a love match is read from the 5th cusp, not from the 7th.
• 1, 6, 10 and 12 — the houses classical KP states as adverse to marriage. The reading names them when they appear beside the promising houses; it does not derive extra adverse houses by any counting rule.

The rule is that the 7th cusp sub lord must signify any one of 2, 7 or 11. One house is enough, and signifying all three does not make the promise "stronger" — KP verdicts are two-valued, PROMISED or NOT PROMISED, and the only qualifier is the annotation "with difficulty" when adverse houses sit alongside.

Key Sub Lord Checks — Love or Arranged, Discord, Birth Time

The 7th cusp sub lord is the decider. The star lord of the cusp plays no part in the verdict, and there is no fourth step: three levels of the sub lord — planet, star lord, sub lord — and the houses each occupies and owns.

Love or arranged is a second reading, not a different marriage rule. The 7th cusp sub lord signifying 2, 7 or 11 promises a marriage arranged by the family; if it is also connected to the 5th, it is a love marriage. The 5th cusp sub lord confirms: signifying 7 or 11, love marriage; signifying 6 or 12, not a love marriage.

Marriage and separation are stated by classical KP on the same cusp, so the reading judges them once from the 7th: one verdict, with both sides' houses named (discord read against 4, 6, 8 and 12; separation against 1, 6, 10 and 12) — never two contradicting rows. Where the writing gives the marriage rule in more than one form, the verdict is the primary form's, and the reading says how many of the forms are promised on your chart.

Because the 7th cusp sub lord can change with a few minutes of clock time, the Ask a Question reading states its birth-time sensitivity: how many minutes the recorded time could move before the sub lord changes. KP timing turns on the minute.

Sample Dasha Period — Worked Example

Consider a chart running Jupiter Mahadasha (2024–2040) with Venus Antardasha (Mar 2026 – Nov 2028). Jupiter is the 7th cusp sub lord and signifies houses 2 and 7; Venus, through its star lord, signifies 11. Between them the Maha and Antar lords cover 2, 7 and 11, each supplying a different house — so the period qualifies to deliver. Venus is also the karaka of marriage, but a karaka only supports; house signification decides.

Inside Jupiter–Venus, each Pratyantardasha whose lord also signifies one of 2, 7 or 11 is listed as a delivering stretch, in date order. Inside each stretch the candidate days come from Sun and Moon transit agreement — several days, never one guaranteed date.
