"When will I get married?" is the most-asked question in KP astrology. Most charts have an answer — but the answer rarely fits in the marriage paragraph of an Annual Reading. The 7th Cuspal Sub Lord — Marriage Promise
In KP, the 7th cuspal sub lord is the single decisive factor for marriage. Forget the 7th lord, forget the planet in the 7th — the sub lord of the 7th cusp is what matters, and the cusp's star lord plays no part in the verdict.
The sub lord is read at three levels: the planet itself, its star lord, and its sub lord. At each level the houses that planet occupies and owns are collected. Three steps, not four.
The classical marriage rule: if the 7th cuspal sub lord signifies any one of houses 2, 7 or 11, marriage is promised. Classical KP writing names houses 1, 6, 10 and 12 against marriage — but they never cancel a promise. A sub lord that signifies the 11th and the 6th together is promised, with difficulty: marriage comes, with obstacles before it or strain after it. Marriage is NOT PROMISED only when the sub lord is connected to 1, 6, 10 and 12 exclusively, touching none of 2, 7 or 11.

The 2-7-11 Marriage Houses
Where career runs on 2-6-10-11, marriage runs on 2-7-11:
- House 2 — family, the household one adds to, accumulation through partnership.
- House 7 — the partner, the marriage itself, public commitment.
- House 11 — fulfilment of desire, gains through relationships.
The promise needs any one of these; delivery needs all of them. That asymmetry is the heart of KP timing, and it is why a chart can promise marriage and still show no delivering period for years.
Marriage and Separation — One Cusp, One Verdict
Classical KP states marriage and separation as a pair on the 7th cusp, with 2-7-11 on one side and 1-6-10-12 on the other. The Deep Dive reads the pair once from that cusp: one verdict with both sides' houses named on the page. You will never see two contradicting rows — "marriage promised" and "separation promised" — for the same sub lord.
Love Marriage or Arranged?
Whether a promised marriage is a love match is a second reading, not a different marriage rule. A 7th cusp sub lord signifying 2, 7 or 11 promises marriage, arranged by the family; if it is also connected to the 5th, it is a love marriage. The 5th cusp sub lord confirms: signifying 7 or 11 points to a love marriage, signifying 6 or 12 says it is not one. The report judges both cusps and reports whether they agree. Partner Indicators — What the Chart Suggests
KP writers describe the partner from the planets connected to the 7th cusp — its sign lord, star lord and sub lord — by their nature and the houses they occupy: Mercury for a communicative, younger or commerce-minded partner; Saturn for an older, serious one, often with delay; Venus for an artistic, social one; Mars for an independent, assertive one; Jupiter for an ethical, advisory temperament. That is an astrologer's description, not a verdict, and the Deep Dive does not include it: the report judges the marriage rules and times them. No chart gives a name, a face or a place, and KP does not use divisional charts to look for them.
KP Astrology Marriage Timing — Three Years of Vimshottari
The bulk of the report is the timing map. Across the next three years the engine walks every Maha-Antar-Pratyantar period and asks one question of each: do its lords jointly signify all of houses 2, 7 and 11, each lord supplying at least one house the others do not, with the Maha lord signifying at least one? A period that does is a marriage-delivering period. A period that covers only two of the three is not, however well placed its lords look.
The periods that meet the bar are listed in time order, unranked, with the count stated. Classical KP states no priority among periods that qualify, so the report does not pick "the" one or attach a percentage. Inside each period the Sun's transit is read for agreement — the stretches where its sign, star and sub lords all fall among the period lords — and those stretches are noted. Transit corroborates a period the dasha has already chosen; it never decides.
If the chart promises marriage but no period in three years meets the bar, the report says so: "promised, no delivering period inside the horizon." That is a promise to hold until its time, not a denial. The report also states how many minutes your recorded birth time could move before the 7th cusp sub lord changes — marriage timing in KP turns on the minute.
