KP Natal Promise: Ask a Question or Single-Area Deep Dive?

New to KP? Start with What is KP astrology?

KP Astrology Pro offers two readings built on the natal promise of a birth chart, and they answer different questions. Ask a Question judges one matter: whether the chart promises it, and the periods and candidate days that deliver it. The Deep Dive takes one life area and reads every KP rule for it in full, with the delivering periods over the next three years and the Sun's agreement days inside them. This guide sets out how the natal promise is judged, the KP method both readings run on, and which one to order first.

How the KP Natal Promise Is Judged

The natal promise is read cusp by cusp. Which cusp decides a matter, and which houses that matter requires, come from a compiled house-grouping table drawn from classical KP writing: marriage from the 7th cusp requiring 2, 7 or 11; profession from the 10th requiring 2, 6 or 10; children from the 5th requiring 2, 5 or 11, and so on. Nothing is inferred, and a matter the writing does not cover is refused rather than guessed. For the underlying theory, see our explainer on the cuspal sub lord.

For each cusp the sub lord is read at three levels: the planet itself, its star lord and its sub lord. At each level the houses that planet occupies and owns are collected. Three steps, not four; the cusp's star lord plays no part in the verdict. If any one required house appears, the matter is PROMISED, even when adverse houses sit alongside. It is NOT PROMISED only when the sub lord is connected to adverse houses exclusively.

Adverse houses are taken from the writing for each matter (6, 8 and 12 against health; 1, 6, 10 and 12 against marriage; 5, 8 and 12 against wealth) and they annotate rather than subtract: a promise made alongside them reads promised, with difficulty. Where the writing states no adverse set, none is invented. Matters the writing states as pairs on one cusp, such as cure and illness on the 6th or marriage and separation on the 7th, are judged once from that cusp with both sides' houses named, so the report never carries two contradicting rows for one matter.

For a promised matter, Ask a Question then lists the delivering Vimshottari periods in time order and unranked, with candidate days inside them. Every cusp it reads also carries a birth-time sensitivity figure, how many minutes the recorded time could move before that cusp's sub lord changes, because KP timing turns on the minute.

What the Deep Dive Adds for One Area

The Deep Dive spends the whole report on a single area: career, marriage, health, wealth, children, foreign settlement or education. It starts from the same cuspal sub lord judgment, then reads every KP rule the writing states for that area, not only the headline promise. For marriage that means the promise itself, whether the match is love or arranged, discord, separation and a second marriage, each from its own cusp and houses.

Where classical KP gives a rule in more than one form, the Deep Dive judges every form and states whether they agree on the chart, rather than picking one. Timing is then worked over a three-year horizon. A Maha, Antar and Pratyantar period delivers a promised matter only when its lords jointly signify all the houses that time it, each lord supplying a different house and the Maha lord at least one. Every qualifying period is listed in time order, unranked. Inside each period, transit agreement is read from the Sun, the body KP uses for a period measured in months: the stretches of days in which the Sun's sign, star and sub lords all fall among the running period lords are named, several per period, and no single date is called. Transit corroborates a period; it never decides.

The Deep Dive also names the rules the chart promises for which no period inside the three-year horizon meets the delivery bar. These are often its most informative rows: a matter to hold lightly until its time, rather than a matter the chart refuses.

Promise vs Delivery: Two Different Tests

The distinction both reports rest on is the pair of quantifiers classical KP uses. Promise takes any one house: a 7th cusp sub lord reaching the 11th alone promises marriage. Delivery takes all of them: the period that brings the wedding must have its lords covering 2, 7 and 11 between them. A chart can therefore promise a matter that no period delivers for years, and a running period can look favourable for a matter the chart never promised, which no period can supply. Ask a Question shows you either situation for one matter; the Deep Dive works through both in detail for one area.

What Neither Report Does

Neither report produces a score, a percentage or a grade. The verdict vocabulary is PROMISED or NOT PROMISED, with the annotations the writing permits: with difficulty, no delivering period inside the horizon, and KP gives this rule in more than one form. No period is ranked above another and no date is named as the date. Ruling planets are shown for the record and decide nothing, because they need a moment and a place of judgment that a birth chart reading does not have. Death and longevity are not timed, remedies are not prescribed, and named-disease onsets are not predicted in a general report.

Which One to Order

If one area dominates your life right now, or an Ask a Question reading flagged something you want opened up, order a Deep Dive on that area. If you have one specific question rather than an area, Ask a Question puts it to the same cuspal sub lord test, for one reading.

Each report is one reading: ₹99 for 1, ₹599 for 7 and ₹999 for 15, and the 7- and 15-reading packs add 30 Day reports. One reading buys any report except a Day report, readings never expire, and every report arrives on screen and as a PDF by email. See pricing for the current lineup.

Frequently Asked Questions

The verdict a birth chart gives on a matter before any timing is considered. The cusp that governs the matter has its sub lord read at three levels (the planet, its star lord, its sub lord), collecting the houses each occupies and owns. If any one required house appears the matter is promised; it is not promised only when the sub lord connects to adverse houses exclusively.

Start with the matter you care about most: Ask a Question reads its promise from the cuspal sub lord and lists the delivering periods and candidate days. If a whole area needs opening up, a Deep Dive on that area lists every KP rule for it with the delivering periods over three years.

Yes. For a promised matter, Ask a Question lists the delivering Vimshottari periods in time order, unranked, with candidate days inside them. The Deep Dive goes further for one area: every rule for that area, a three-year horizon and the Sun's agreement days inside each period.

No. A Deep Dive covers one of seven areas: career, marriage, health, wealth, children, foreign settlement or education. Ask a Question covers one matter at a time, from whichever area it belongs to. The two are complementary in scope as well as depth.

Each is one reading: ₹99 for 1, ₹599 for 7 and ₹999 for 15, and the 7- and 15-reading packs add 30 Day reports. One reading buys any report except a Day report, and readings never expire.
